Eccentric musician and practical joker Robbie Williams arrives in LA with his Fiance Ayda Field this Friday morning after causing a stir on the radio when Robbie proposed to Ayda on the air.
Though he and his publicist have dismissed the proposal as a joke and Field arrived in LA without an engagement ring on her finger, Williams’ mother confirmed the engagement and said that the engagement was for real.
“I’m really pleased,” Jan Williams told the BBC. “They’ve been together for nearly three years, so it’s about time.”
She said Robbie had revealed his proposal plans to her a week ago and that he’d already bought a genuine engagement ring to replace the frog ring he’d used on air.
When Robbie Williams proposed to long-term girlfriend Ayda Field live on an Australian radio show this week, many thought the fun-loving rock star was just joking around.
Robbie’s manager had told GMTV that the proposal had been just for fun. I hope he finally puts a ring on her. I think joking with your mother that you are actually going to marry your long-term girlfriend and then not going through with it would probably put her in her grave.
I wouldn’t be surprised to hear more about their upcoming wedding plans.
