Katherine Heigl’s Baby Life-Threatening Heart Condition

Katherine Heigl’s “broke down” when she learned her baby girl had a life-threatening heart condition.

The baby, whom Katherine and husband Josh Kelley have named Nancy Leigh – Naleigh for short – underwent surgery at just 2 months of age to repair a hole in her heart that she was born with.

“Doctors said the congenital heart defect had to be treated quickly to save the baby’s life,” a friend said.

Katherine and Josh, 29, had to wait eight more months before they could bring her home in September.

“When they received the devastating news – it broke Katherine’s heart,” said the friend. “She and Josh were terrified at first, but they prayed about it and realized that it was meant to be – it made them love Naleigh even more.”

The new parents are doing everything possible to help their daughter through the health ordeal, say pals.

I feel so sorry for Katherine. I am not sure what adoption agency she used, but I do know that they usually would have to disclose any information regarding the childs health before the adoption. I wonder if they tried to hide the fact the child was ill so that the famous couple would go through the procedure. Maybe it was fate? Who knows? Maybe if the child wasn’t adopted she would have passed away in Korea due to lack of resources.

Maybe just the sheer fact of Katherine adopting her new beautiful baby girl, Katherine  just became a superhero by saving a lovely childs  life. My heart and love go out to Katherine and her husband, as well the lovely so cute, adorable chunky ( but wonderful) baby Nancy-Leigh. I wish them a well recovery.

what a load of crap!!! Korea does NOT give referrals of babies younger then 5 months old per Korean law, so they didn’t even know about her at 2 months old. There is also NO WAY that Korea didn’t tell them about any health issues the baby may have, as the doctors in Korea are very careful, and very good with the children. “Lack of resources” my behind, the medical care for the babies in Korea is top notch. I am so happy for Naleigh and her parents, I just wish the media wouldn’t outright LIE about her adoption story.

Good grief. This is all BS. That is not how the Korea program works at all. Stop trying to “make” a story out of thin air. And Korea has great medical resources and provides great care to their children both in and out of the adoption/foster care system…they are actually probably more thorough than most of the US as far as medical care.

Oh, good grief. MAYBE YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR FACTS! MAYBE YOU’RE AN IDIOT??!?!?! Maybe, just maybe, you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about?

Baby Naleigh doesn’t (and didn’t) have a “life-threatening” condition. ASDs are very common, and some don’t even require surgery. It probably won’t impact her life one little bit. Katherine Heigl and her husband didn’t “save her life.” That precious baby would have been adopted by someone else — very quickly, probably — if they had not accepted her referral. Babies in adoption programs don’t die in Korea because of lack of resources — in fact, most are cared for by loving foster families before they are adopted. The “special needs” label for children in Korean adoption programs covers a wide variety of things — most of which are very, very minor, many of which can be corrected with minor surgery.
The agency didn’t hide anything from the prospective parents, either. That’s ridiculous — and as the mom of a child from Korea, I can tell you it does not happen.
Maybe, just maybe, you should stop using real people’s names in your fairy tales?

  4. FactChecker says:

Please check your facts before you publish something such as this. The only things that are correct here are the names of the family and the baby…

Are you serious?? You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about – I suggest you do some fact finding before you post such stupid comments. My son had a health issue while still in Korea and we knew about it IMMEDIATELY! They kept running tests for what was wrong and until they had an answer. Their health care is probably better than ours!

The Korean adoption program and the agencies that are involved ROCK!

    GET YOUR STORY STRAIGHT!

wow. whoever wrote this should be fired. what an ignorant article. rather racist, too.

  7. KIN CHEUNG says:

I must say that I have to agree with this article! This is based on my vast accurate and rather unbiased opionion that I have of Korea. Now, I know for a fact that Korea executes the unhealthy babies maybe. When I asked them why, they just said – well thats population control korea style and you mind your own business. Yes, I was just so shocked that I could not sleep for like 12 hrs, would you beleive that. How am I supposed to mind my own business, I dont have enough money or start up capital, u know. My neighbour is from Korea and his friends sisters husband said that Korea has the worst medical facility and health care. China and Mozambique have better she insisted. My husbands daughter once flew to Korea coz she got a free flight and she said that 100% of Koreans and their babies stink like shit.I think they dont change their diapers. I dont beleive that. I wonder why Katherine has to go to Korea to begin of. She could just go to Cambodia. THey have better babies I think. Or she can just create one with me. I will just get her to ship this baby to Korea and we shall get on it.

  8. Lisa says:

WOW, Way to jump all over the person who wrote this article. RACIST?? SERIOUSLY?? WTF! I do believe the girl did mention she thought the baby was adorable and cute. I think you people are all reading too much into this.

  9. Kamala Blott says:

Whilst I recognize your position I can not actually go along with what you have said right here.
