It's an archaic religious ritual which has been mixed with the issues of determining ownership of a joint estate. There is paperwork for determining ownership of an estate... the other stuff is just leftover of outdated tradition. I'm glad to see famous people discarding the ritual as the twaddle that it is. I also applaud them for not bowing to the pressure to have kids. It's not like we need more people on this planet. Who cares if they’re married or not?
